  • Selecting Homeowners Coverage:

  • A homeowners policy will typically cover your home, structures and personal property. This includes personal liability and medical payments to visitors and damage to other property. If your assets are in excess of $100,000 you may want to discuss options for an umbrella policy.

Make sure you are clear on what is covered and what is not; such as flood, fire or weather related disasters. Your agent will help you select what is appropriate for the area in which you live.

Please note that “Your homeowners’ policy does not cover damage to your home due to an earthquake. Your policy needs to be endorsed to include this peril. Please call us to request a quote.”

Check to see if your policy covers replacement costs or the depreciated value of your property.

As you make improvements to your home and property, its highly recommended to review your policy periodically. Make sure you have adequate coverage and have it updated as needed. Your agent can assist you in making the appropriate choices.

  • Money Saving Tips:

    1. Install a security system
    2. Ask for a higher deductible
    3. Combine with your auto and/or umbrella policy
    4. Discount for non-smokers.
    5. Fire prevention: use smoke detectors; keep fire extinguishers on hand; install an insulated sprinkler system or a fire alarm with your security system.

    Homeowners Tips:

It’s always a good idea to keep an inventory of your home belongings. This will help make it easier to assess the loss in event of a disaster or theft.

    1. Keep records of all your belongings and have your valuables appraised by a qualified appraiser. Keep it updated as you acquire new items.

    2. Take photos or videos to accompany home inventory of your belongings. Put a copy in a safe place such as a safety deposit box outside of your home.

    3. Discuss any changes with your agent that may require an update in your coverage such as new furniture, jewelry and electronics.
